Bengal Rescue Expenses

Nearly every cat that comes into our program requires HUNDREDS and sometimes THOUSANDS of dollars worth of medical care prior to adoption. The majority of the time, it is NOT because there is something wrong with the cat; it is often due to the fact that many owners do not provide their cats with even the most basic medical care. We ensure our cats are spayed / neutered and receive all the appropriate vaccinations prior to releasing them to adopters and/or fosters. Our adoption fees do not even come close to covering these Veterinary expenses.

The typical cost of Veterinary care for each of the cats we rescue, are as follows:

  • Veterinary Examination:  $75.00 – $130.00
  • Vaccinations: $75.00-$97.00
  • Spay / Neuter: $600.00 + (unless the cat is near a low-cost clinic we can get into – many cats are intact and we have to spay / neuter – NOW – not in 3 weeks or longer!)
  • De-flea / Deworm: $50.00-$75.00
  • Microchip: $93.00 – $97.00
  • FeLV / FIV Test: $70.00 – $97.00
  • Full CBC Panel (not always required): $250.00
  • Parasite Screen (not always required): $147.00

LOW END: $963.00

HIGH END: $1,993.00

This is NOT sustainable!!

But please don’t take our word on this – here are some recent invoices:

We do our very best to work with Veterinarians who offer discounted services to Rescue organizations, however not all Veterinarians support rescue.

Some cats arrive and are clearly malnourished and underweight. We make sure they have the right nutrients so that they can gain weight and eventually thrive. We have rescued many cats who weigh a mere 6 lbs, when their natural weight should be closer to 12 lbs. We make sure to get a good Veterinary assessment, and follow best practices for recovery. Some cats present with nausea or other symptoms, that require a number of medical treatments. We make sure that the cat receives all of the necessary care to get them back on their feet.

Please donate today to help us get these cats into loving forever homes.

Donate In Honor

We have been honored by many of our followers, with a donation in honor of a beloved Bengal. These cats leave such a hole in our hearts, when they pass away. What better way to let your friends or family members know that you are thinking of them, and their loss, than by donating in honor of their beloved cat?

If you would like to donate in honor, please be sure to provide us with the name and address in your PayPal donation, and we’ll send them a card to let them know. Sometimes just knowing that you are not alone, in your grief, is a gift in itself.
